Views of friends/colleagues with summary comments "I am quite upset with the mentality of men in our country (India). To say the least, I feel disgusted, ashamed and at loss of words with my head hanging in shame with the incidents and Telangana in particular. Why do men rape or show their domination over women? Is it to establish domination or because of an inherent complex? Let us delve into this a little deeper! As babies, female have a better chance of survival, as students, girls are constantly outscoring boys, females mature faster than boys, as adults, they do multitasking to put the homes on track, they sacrifice their career for their homes and that is one of the major reason why top positions are being held by men and inherent bias in the corporate culture not only in India but globally. Men on the other hand try to take advantage of the patriarchal system and with brute force try to dominate and get them into being dominated using religious books like Manu Smriti etc and through the priest class like Pandits, Maulvis and Fathers. Are these institutions (Temple, Mosque and Church) made to exploit and support the patriarchal system which would not have otherwise been the case. This is further exacerbated by alcohol/intoxicants which brings the animal instinct to the fore. Such incidents only prove that men are animals and nothing more. One thinks these buggers should be castrated first in front of their families and then hanged in full public till dead and bodies disposed of unceremoniously. No after hanging ritual for them and this should be telecast live on all channels rather than the parliament and those elected, who have their own issues. " " Further, this has something to do with our society and upbringing. Especially how we bring up our sons and daughters, with unequal treatment and lopsided expectation cues. This also plays out in how we treat spouses at home, as all these cues are picked up by growing children " Summary comment: Are we ready to change ourselves and set ourselves as good role models ? Are we willing to stop others in abusive mode, and assert correct behaviour towards all genders in public and in private? These will decide how our society shapes up... This will lay foundation for "Ram Rajya". Ethics and ideals are the way to go, not political expediency and religious bigotry. Freedom comes with societal responsibility! Do we have what it takes!
